Kelly Carr is the owner of Safe Space Counseling and works as the sole therapist at Safe Space Counseling. Working with people as a counselor/therapist is one of her biggest passions. She cares deeply about providing a safe space where people can explore who they are, gain understanding about what they are dealing with, and work towards fulfilling their greatest potential.
She works with adults and teens experiencing depression, anxiety, loss and grief, trauma, relationship issues, spiritual issues, low self-esteem, and life transitions. She assists in helping clients identify and overcome barriers that are getting in the way of healing. She has observed that these barriers often block us from healthy and fulfilling relationships with others and relationship with ourselves. If you are looking for a place to explore who you are and and live into your authentic and best self, then her services would be a good fit for you.
Her main therapeutic approach is Lifespan Integration (LI) Therapy. Lifespan Integration therapy helps heal trauma and attachment in a non invasive way. For more information on Lifespan Integration therapy please visit the website at www.lifespanintegration.com. Even though LI is her main therapeutic approach, she integrates into sessions a variety of therapeutic techniques that seem to fit best with each individual client and their individual needs. In addition to working with clients through individual sessions, she believes our relationships and family dynamics impact our well-being and behaviors. Therefore, she works to help clients see how relationships and communities they are a part of are impacting their situation. Therapy and healing is a journey. She walks with people along this journey with a non-judgmental, empathetic, compassionate, and curious presence.

Therapy Education and Work Experience
Kelly received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University in 2005. She then went on to earn a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Studies in 2012 from Seattle University. After completing her masters degree she completed a full-time 2 year post masters graduate program earning a Post Masters Certificate in Pastoral Counseling. This certificate focused on therapeutically working with people to identify their strengths, build on their strengths, and help them discover the path that is best for them. In addition the program trained her to see people and their behavior as part of a wider system instead of seeing people as separate from the communities in which they live and experience life. While in this program she completed a 18 month internship working with adults in recovery from Drug and Alcohol Abuse, and children suffering from trauma. Through these internships and past counseling work Kelly has gained experience working with a wide variety of minority populations. In June 2014 she began working full time with adults, adolescents, and children suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, grief/loss, anger, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and PTSD. In 2015 Kelly underwent additional training to become certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, an evidenced based practice that helps people heal from trauma and recover from symptoms of PTSD.
Kelly Carr, Interior Designer
Kelly has worked on her education and training to become an interior designer through the New York Institute of Art and Design online interior design program and in person through Clover Park's Associate of Applied Technology in Interior Design. Having both a passion in interior design and mental health she has observed how interior design and mental health are connected. For example, different colors release different chemicals in the brain that contribute to how someone physically feels when they look at the color. She is passionate about helping design homes that contribute to emotional wellness and soothing the nervous system. She believes that the home should be the place that people are able to recharge and rejuvenate in order to be their best selves when they leave their home and go back into the world.
Interior Designer Services
Seeing how the state and design of one's home has an impact on mental health, Kelly has developed an area of of her therapy practice that focuses on the home. She has named this service "The Healing Home." Kelly currently offers virtual interior design services. Learn more on her "The Healing Home" page of this website.
